Maya Rochat (* 1985) is an internationally known Swiss artist who combines photography, painting, video, performance and installation in her artistic work. Starting from the exhibition location, she creates spectacular room installations that have a direct, emotional effect on the viewer.

Maya Rochat's exhibition "Who Runs The World" focuses on working with space-specific installations, compositions and interaction with the viewer. The intention of the exhibition is to change the character of the space and to live in the painting of Maya Rochat.

In the rooms of the KALI Gallery she will bring together an inexhaustible number of organically directed color paintings, wallpapers, drafts of textile works, video art and performances. Everything covered and inspired by the organics of nature from Switzerland.

The KALI Gallery will be part of the live image for 6 weeks. The exhibition introduces the viewer into the world of the artist and her obsessive production, full of colorful moments of repetition to infinity. The arranged compositions are printed on metallic paper. This paper is cut by hand and pressed into the room at certain moments, creating a relief and the effect of light and shadow. It is a new technique that the artist developed based on her exploration of the local nature. She wants to achieve a second dimension behind the picture and break the angle of the light falling on the metallic paper. The pictures shine and get a metallic touch.

The theme of the exhibition "Who Runs The World" would like to guide you and make it easy for you to understand that the artist herself is the designer of the colors that rule the world.

Maya Rochat lives and works in Lausanne (CH).
